At myCNAjobs we work with thousands of companies in the space to overcome the challenges of Caregiver recruitment. This gives our staff a unique vantage point to the industry. With this front row seat we’re able to see what’s going on across the country in home care recruitment. We can see who’s winning, who’s not - and most importantly - why?
We sat down with Ryan Hodgen, Training and Onboarding Manager here at myCNAjobs to answer some common questions about recruiting Caregivers and CNAs. Check out his response in the quick video below. Today’s question is:
“What should my agency do with a difficult new regulation?”
“Well every year we’re seeing new state regulations come into play. My customers in places like California and New Jersey, Washington state, they’re already really aware of these realities. What are the best things that you can do as a recruiter with respect to these new regulations coming down the pipe? Well really, the best thing you can do for your caregivers is educate and accommodate them. Very often I’ve seen offices respond to new regulation, begin to use it as a shepherd's crook, or as a means of sifting through their recruiting pool. And in fact that’s probably not the best approach. I know as recruiters you have to wear a lot of hats, and in states where regulation has been increased one of the most important hats that you can wear is an educator’s hat. So helping your caregivers through completing the process of whatever your state regulations require, making that process seem as unintimidating as possible, and being as accommodating as you can, will really be a boon to your office and to your agency.”
