Win the Caregiver Recruitment War With These Tips

Apr 2, 2018 5:01:28 PM

In any industry, not just Caregiver recruitment, good leaders learn from others. Finding proven strategies from other organizations and implementing them when recruiting Caregivers can instantly inject new life into your business. Sometimes, it can be hard to find time to sift through the noise to find the best ideas available. Even harder can be finding examples outside of home care recruiting. We’ve found five brands from other industries who are winning at five different aspects of recruitment: Offering, experience, processing, brand, and talent creation. Each of these has valuable insights to be gained that can help improve your current Caregiver, HHA, and CNA recruitment.

Offering

Walmart is the largest private employer in the U.S., employing around 1.5 million Americans. Many of those employees are in entry level positions, the same type of positions currently luring Caregivers away from the home care industry. Due to their benefits package and room for career growth, Walmart is a destination employer for workers all across the country.

Experience

In addition to being on seemingly every street corner in America, Starbucks is winning on experience. With a large need for front-line workers such a baristas, Starbucks is a leading example of how to lower the barrier to entry and targeting workers with the right makeup for the job rather than bullet points on a resume. In fact, Starbucks doesn’t even require a resume or cover letter in order to apply for work!

Processing

Ever wonder how Uber is able to have enough drivers across the country to ensure there’s virtually always a car right around the corner? They have one of the most efficient applicant processing systems around. They are getting people to work quickly, resulting in a growing workforce and the fat bottom lines that grab headlines.

Brand

If you’re looking for an example of how brand impacts recruitment, look no further than Amazon. They’re one of the most sought after brands to work for across all sectors, including front-line workers. In fact, 1 in 10 Caregivers have already worked for or interviewed with Amazon.

Talent Creation

Did you know there’s a similar labor shortage among commercial pilots that we see in Caregiver and CNA recruiting today? Talent creation is a vital necessity for survival in both the airline industry as well as home care, and jetBlue is a phenomenal example of how to create the talent you wish to see in the workforce! After the implementation of their new talent creation program for aspiring pilots, they received upwards of 60x more applicants than spots available.
