In today’s market, candidates are in the driver’s seat when it comes to Caregiver recruitment. They’re often presented with so many opportunities, the have to make decisions about which ones they’re interested in moving forward with. There’s a number of factors they take into consideration when making this decision. We asked Caregivers if they have multiple job interviews scheduled and only have time to go to one, how would they decide which interview to go to. Here’s what they said:
The easier your referral program is to understand, the more likely your Caregivers will be motivated to refer a friend. Can your program be easily explained in one sentence? Can it be understood when laid out in writing? If a Caregiver doesn’t know how the program works, they won’t use it!
As might be expected, pay ranks at the top. What’s interesting is how closely it’s followed by a number of other factors. Hours and schedule come in just 2% lower, showing the importance of flexibility and shift availability when hiring Caregivers. Often times Caregivers choose home care over other places like assisted living or hospitals due to the flexibility offered.
Benefits ranks third, with 42% of Caregivers looking at the total employment package when making decisions. Things like time off, insurance, direct deposit, among others go help a lot when hiring CNAs.
Other factors many agencies may not be considering today are also important to Caregivers. Having work nearest to their house influences nearly 40% of Caregivers when looking for new opportunities. Reputation plays a big role as well, reinforcing the fact that those agencies who treat Caregivers especially well have an easier time with Caregiver recruitment.
Knowing all these factors make a difference, take a look at which of these your agency excels in. Do a competitive analysis (covered in our previous post) and lead with your best foot forward.
